Youth Clinician - FT, Cedar City

Annual Salary: 

  • Provisional - $66,311
  • Licensed - $76,211

Therapist will be working with an experienced, multi-disciplinary team in assisting youth and families to regain stability in the face of a serious mental illness/substance use. You will have the opportunity to assist your clients by:

-Preparing lessons according to the program's assigned schedule to implement during group therapy. Frequently coordinate and communicate with your assigned team including case managers and support staff regarding activities during group and other recreational support activities as needed.

- The therapist will provide individual, group, family and educational services to clients receiving services according to their needs and will work closely with other personnel and agencies.

- This position will also coordinate services with other community agencies, organizations, support groups and family members to assist with linking clients with available and necessary resources to aid in each client's treatment.

- Must have effective interviewing skills and evaluation techniques, knowledge of different modes of psychotherapy, including crisis intervention skills..

- Familiarity and experience with documenting in an electronic record and keeping documentation current is a must.

Other Job Duties

· Complete a DSM-V guided clinical assessment

· Develop a client-centered treatment plan

· Enter documentation in the client's electronic health record in a timely manner

· Provide ongoing therapy, suicide risk assessment and intervention

· Review outcome measures to help track client progress and identify barriers to progress

· Provide approximately 25 clinical services per week

· Collaborate with team members

Minimum Job Qualifications/Requirements

· Graduation from a college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, or Professional Counseling.

· Current Licensure as a LCSW, MFT, CMHC, in the State of Utah OR current License as a CSW, MFT Associate, CMHC Associate and ability to obtain full license within 2 years.

· Preference given to those with experience working with youth ages 4 - 22 years of age.

· Ability to pass a Background Check.

· Current Utah driver's license (or equivalent).

What you can expect

Experience: At Southwest, you will be joining a team dedicated mental health clinicians with years of clinical experience. You will also have the opportunity to develop and hone your clinical skills working with a variety of clinical conditions.

Clinical Support: We support evidenced-based programming in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and EMDR by providing regular supervision groups for clinicians interested in developing and maintaining skills in those modalities. Your colleagues will also be available during team meetings and between appointments for consultation and support. For clinicians working toward full-license, weekly clinical supervision will be provided at no-cost.

Competitive Salary: Therapist salary ranges start from $66,310.00 to $76,211.00 based on clinical license. There is also the opportunity to earn quarterly bonuses based on the number of clinical hours provided (productivity incentive). Some clinicians make an additional $1000 / month on average.

No after-hours crisis work: Our therapists do not carry an on-call phone or respond to crises outside the regular workday.

Since 1986, Southwest Behavioral Health Center has been a leader in assisting individuals and families in the five-county area who struggle with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders. We specialize in working with clients who have few resources and those with Utah Medicaid. We strive to be the best of the best at helping the most severely mental ill persons establish stability and dignity in their lives. We accomplish this by providing a full array of in-house services, including:

· Temporary housing in agency-owned and managed units in St. George and Cedar City for clients.

· 24-hour mobile crisis outreach for individuals and families experiencing a mental health driven emergency through our Mobile Crisis Outreach team (MCOT) and Stabilization Mobile Response team (SMR).

· Transitional housing and programming at our Mountain View House facility for persons moving from an acute or long-term psychiatric unit.

· Mental Health Court services for clients whose mental illness has been a factor leading to criminal charges.

· Residential substance abuse treatment programs at our Desert Haven and Horizon House facilities in St. George and Cedar City.

· Outpatient children and youth programming, including day treatment services for those with a severe mental illness.

· Prevention services aimed at keeping youth from using substances or engaging in at-risk behaviors.

And, as noted above:

· Intensive case management services that can include assistance with obtaining disability benefits, acting as the client's representative payee, assisting with medication administration, teaching life skills and so forth.

· Clubhouse programs in St. George and Cedar City.
