Billing Specialist, FT (SG ADM)

This is a full-time, benefitted position working 40 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday through Frida

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of complex clerical/bookkeeping and routine fiscal duties related to maintaining agency account, collections, and information system(s).

Works under the general supervision of the Billing Supervisor.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  2. Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical/bookkeeping duties as needed to manage accounts receivable records and information.
  3. Manage and maintain billing statements and assure accuracy of system data, which has been input from various agency sources.
  4. Analyzes management reports to maintain accuracy of system data.
  5. Determines accounts to be written off, or referred to collections.
  6. Manages all aspects of Accounts Receivable payments.
  7. Manages creation of insurance claims and follow-up on claims as billed.
  8. Makes adjustments to insurance claims showing deficiencies or over-payments.
  9. Contacts insurance companies and assists with claim resolution.
  10. Must ensure the accuracy of allocation to all programs.
  11. Complete all required training by imposed deadlines.
  12. Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

AND

One (1) year of responsible experience in insurance billing, accounting, collections, or bookkeeping;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  1. Able to pass a Criminal Background Check (BCI)

3. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

    • basic accounting principles, practices and procedures
    • collection procedures and protocols
    • insurance procedures and insurance claim procedures
    • state laws as they apply to agency financial practices
    • basic data base management
    • telecommunications etiquette, operations and procedures
    • considerable knowledge of ten (10) key operation
    • considerable knowledge of interpersonal communication skills
    • considerable knowledge of billing procedures and protocols
    • considerable knowledge of recording and filing procedures and methodologies
    • considerable knowledge of personal computer operations and various program applications

        Must be proficient in use of computers and have keyboarding skills in order to enter and retrieve client's electronic records. General knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft office software, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are preferred.

        4. Working Conditions including Physical and Mental Demands

        • Extensive sitting at a desk and computer for up to eight (8) hours per day.
        • Frequent, repetitive use of hands, fingers, and wrists for typing, using 10-key and manipulating a mouse.
        • High reliance on vision to read small print, review documents, and stare at computer screens for extended periods of time.
        • Physically able to climb stairs, occasionally lift or carry documents, office supplies, or other files typically up to 10-25 lbs.
        • Regular use of voice and hearing for phone calls, virtual meetings, and in-person discussions.
        • Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
